Macon United Methodist Church

I began serving as sole pastor of Macon United Methodist Church on July 1, 2022. This was towards the end (or safer times?) of the pandemic, at least for the most practical purposes. The faith community at Macon were warm, welcoming, and looking for some permanency in their pastoral leadership. Due to many factors (including lack of clergy and the pandemic) Macon had experienced several pastoral transitions over the course of a short time. I was thankful for the opportunity to help provide some consistency in pastoral leadership, and to get to know this friendly group of people. They are very dedicated to ministry, and are regular supporters of UMCOR, local non-profit agencies in Lenawee County, and one another. This congregation truly represents the best things about being a family.

Macon UMC has been “Joyously Serving God Since 1834.”, and they see themselves as: “a small, rural, friendly church nestled between Tecumseh, Clinton and Saline, and the church bulding is barrier free and we are all inclusive extending a warm welcome to all.”

Since coming to serve alongside the Macon UM Church, we have seen some new faces begin attending regularly, and this faith community is still dedicated to taking care of their community and each other. When one person has had a need, in whatever way, several people are at the ready to support them and offer whatever assistance they can. This beautiful group of people truly live into the vision Christ described of loving our neighbors and being in harmony with one another.
